Astronaut Training Camps
Each Astronaut Training Camp includes a variety of out-of-this-world experiences such as rocket building, underwater training in SCUBA gear, customizing spacesuits, and constructing and living in a lunar colony. All camps included simulated space missions.
Young Astronaut Training Camp

Advanced Astronaut Training Camp
Ages: 10-13 (includes SCUBA)

Campers build and launch rockets, culminating in building their own customized rocket – complete with 3D printed parts they design themselves! Each participant will also build their own electronic launch system and platform, to continue the innovation far into the future.
Ages: 10 and up

Sports in Space – NEW!
Could you slam-dunk on Mars? Spike on a spacewalk? Throw a curve ball on the Moon? Pirouette on Pluto? Campers will experiment with gravity, air resistance, momentum, and more to figure out how they could change their favorite sports to make them work elsewhere in our Solar System.

Innovators’ TechShop – NEW!
Campers will learn to use drills, band saws, soldering irons, and other shop tools, and combine them with high-tech gadgetry like Arduino micro-processors and 3D printers.Then, they will take their new maker skills to the next level with two days at TechShop St. Louis, where they will learn to use advanced rapid prototyping equipment like laser cutters and vacuum formers.

Campers will use devices such as soldering irons, rotary drills and voltmeters to learn basic robotics and build their own custom SeaPerch ROV, an underwater robot! The program culminates with a specially designed human/robot “weightless” experience where participants will learn the basics of SCUBA and join their robot in an underwater mission.

Mars Camp- NEW!
July 31-August 4, The Challenger Learning Center is partnering with the Saint Louis Science Center to offer a camp for astronauts entering grades 4-6. This camp is hosted by the Science Center, but will spend two days running simulated space missions at the CLC. More information can be found at slsc.org/Summer-camps.
Summer Camp Scholarships
The Challenger Learning Center is anticipating funds to provide scholarships for students wishing to participate in a one-week summer camp.
The funds are intended for students who have an interest and financial need for support. Eligible applicants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis are intended for students in the Ferguson/North County area. The scholarship pays for a significant amount of the camp fee.
Scholarship applications will be available in early 2017.
